Meet Dr. Katie Armstrong
My name is Katie Armstrong, and I am a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments, and Orientation and Mobility Specialist. I have both my bachelors and masters in visual disabilities, and an EdD in Leadership and Innovation. I have been working in the field of visual disabilities since 2007, specializing in early childhood, deafblindness, complex learning needs, and challenging behavior.
My passion lies in the most complex learners. I received specialized training in working with students who are deafblind, and have spent the last four years of my career immersed in learners who demonstrate behaviors that are challenging to understand. I am motivated to figure out even the most challenging communication attempts, build a true understanding of who a child is, and design collaborative instruction that is innovative and individualized.
Here I’m working with a student to provide individualized strategies and support, with parent permission.
